An Overview on Task-based Language Teaching

Abstract.Task-based Language Teaching (hereafter TBLT) is a further development of Communicative Language Teaching (henceforth CLT) that many communicative activities have appeared in communicative classroom teaching. TBLT leads students to learn English by fulfilling a real-task in order to improve their ability of using English. It emphasizes on learner-centered. This paper introduces the theoretical background, definition of TBLT and task, characteristics of TBLT, design and implementation, application, advantages and disadvantages and prospect of TBLT in China.
